Teach your cooks a method for developing their ideas.

THE CULINARY CREATIVE PROCESS

Tailored workshops, courses, and guided development with Renato Osoy, creator of the Creative Chef Method.

Help students, educators, and kitchen teams turn culinary ideas into workable outcomes through research, experimentation, documentation, and refinement.

From knowing how to cook to developing your own work

Your students can follow a recipe. Your cooks have ideas. Moving those ideas forward takes another set of skills: defining an intention, investigating possibilities, organizing useful tests, evaluating results, and deciding what to change. I teach cooks how to approach that work systematically, with attention to ingredients, culinary context, and the practical demands of the kitchen.

  • Each engagement begins with your situation.

  • Where does development become difficult?

  • What can participants already do?

  • What do they need to become better able to do?

From there, we establish a focus and a teaching format suited to your group.

A practical framework for culinary development

The Creative Chef Method organizes the culinary creative process around four connected stages. Participants learn how to use these stages to give their work direction, make better-informed decisions, and carry learning from one attempt into the next.

Research

Understand the ingredients, techniques, references, and constraints relevant to an idea.

Experimentation

Turn questions into purposeful tests and compare meaningful variations.

Documentation

Record processes, observations, and decisions so the work can be understood and continued.

Refinement

Improve the result against its intended use and develop a preparation others can reproduce.

TEACHING ADAPTED TO YOUR SETTING

Engagements can range from an introductory presentation to a practical workshop or a series of sessions. The depth, activities, and materials are agreed according to your objectives, participants, available time, facilities, and budget.

Culinary schools and programs
Guest teaching, applied workshops, and courses that help students move toward independent development. Sessions can support existing assignments or form part of a longer learning sequence.

Culinary educators
Professional development in applying the Method to teaching: framing assignments, guiding investigation, discussing results, and assessing the reasoning behind students’ decisions.

Restaurants and kitchen teams
Focused workshops and guided development around a team’s actual challenges. Establish a shared approach to testing ideas, recording results, and refining recipes within the constraints of ingredients, equipment, preparation, and service.

Professional events and remote groups
Demonstrations, participatory workshops, and online sessions for cooks interested in a more deliberate creative practice.

A working archive to support the learning EXPERIENCE

THE Culinary Collector PLATFORM forms part of the teaching environment.

Selected ingredient investigations, culinary essays, development examples, and practical frameworks help participants see how the process works. Guided activities connect those resources to their own questions.

Because the platform publishes research on a periodic basis, it provides a place to return after the session: a reliable source for consulting references, investigating ingredients, or continuing to develop an idea.

The platform is organized through four connected areas. Journal reflects on how creative thinking affects professional practice. Materia studies ingredients, instruments, techniques, and flavor behavior through applied frameworks. Method gives structure and the steps to apply the creative process to culinary practice. Formula Log documents preparations, ratios, tests, and working results as case studies.

Together, these four pillars form a functional platform; a system designed to support cooks move from execution to authorship through a reliable culinary R&D framework.

The Experience Behind the Method

I’m Renato Osoy, a chef, educator, and the founder of Culinary Collector.

My background combines culinary training at Le Cordon Bleu Paris and ESHOB in Barcelona, teaching at The College Hotel in Amsterdam, restaurant management and leadership, more than two decades of teaching experience, and an MA in Artistic Research from the University of Amsterdam.

The Creative Chef Method brings these experiences together in an approach to developing culinary work through investigation, practical testing, and considered decisions.

I teach the process through examples, guided exercises, and discussion, adapting the work to the experience and concerns of the group.
